Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Word 2000 in 24 Hours

Finally, Help for us beginners
How come the geniuses at Microsoft can design great software but cannot tell beginners how to use it? Thank goodness for the SAM series or I would have given up. I bought a number of books but this one was the best for learning for a beginner like me. I had never used a computer before but this book has me doing everything I need to do and then some. I read a lesson a day and found it both easy and fun. Much better than the Dummy books which I find are too busy being funny and unclear on what I want to know. Thank you SAM and Ms. Steele, great book!.

Sara Steele Address Book

Brilliant Watercolor Flowers in an Address Book
If you tend to misplace address books this is one to break the pattern. The brilliant pictorial cover of bright red roses will be an asset to any desk and its size makes it unlikely to get lost amongst your stationery. Its spiral binding is enhanced by a red cloth back cover which extends to enclose the spirals. Sara Steele is best known for her very original posters and calendars. Unlike calendars which are often tossed out at the end of the year, the address book provides a more permanent presentation of her work. There are 20 large letter tabs and on each one is a gorgeous floral print. This makes a lovely gift-- perhaps for yourself.

Absolutely, anything she does is wonderful. She is blessed
I have not read this book, but I have bought copies of anything/everything I see of Sara Steele. Not only is she truly blessed, but gifted as well. She paints with her heart and soul and leaves no doubt of her talent. When I first started painting, I used Sara Steele and Susan Moyers beautiful way of doing art, their color combinations, being able to "see" through their eyes. What a lucky break for me!!!

Service Parts Handbook (2nd Edition)

Authors: Joseph D. Patton Jr. and Roy J. Steele
Average review score:

A Worthwhile Update to a Vital Handbook
Comments on book:

The Service Parts Handbook has been revised and expanded with the 2003 release of the second edition. The first edition was published in 1997. This second edition is authored by Joe Patton and Roy Steele.

The initial release of the Handbook was a major step forward in documenting the principles and practices of service parts management. It was useful in the general area of after-sales service parts management of repairable equipment and products.

This book can be used by managers as well as practitioners. The book is written at the practical level backed with theory as necessary. This book would be most useful for anyone involved in service parts management as a member of an original equipment manufacturer, as a member of a distributor, to those in the dealer network, third-party maintainers, or end users.

There are almost 60 additional pages in this second edition compared to the initial release of the handbook (now a total of 541 pages). The book is illustrated with charts, graphs, and tables. The second edition makes a number of interesting changes. Three new chapters have been added that are timely: Outsourcing, Utilizing Technology Solutions and Logistics Business Modeling.

Several chapters have been revised with the addition of new material: Procurement, Repairables, Quality, Service Parts Valuation and Integrating Parts in the Total Service Process. The other chapters have been revised where necessary.

This is a worthwhile update with a number of new concepts presented. Highly recommended.

Sociology: A Down to Earth Approach
Published in Hardcover by Pearson Allyn & Bacon (June, 1999)
Authors: James M. Henslin and Steele
Average review score:

Interesting and Lively
Admittedly I haven't read a lot of sociology textbooks, but this one is quite good. Every chapter has real-life examples (and many of the author's own experiences), so it not only makes you know the theory but also feel it at work in our societies, although the author writes quite a lot of his own feelings (it's dead obvious that he wants to change the world), which I don't know if it's a good point or not.

I can't say enough great things about this book! It was one of my favorites when I was a kid, and I want to know why it's out of print!

Step into the Chinese Empire: Chinese Empire (Step into Series)
Published in Hardcover by Lorenz Books (January, 1999)
Author: Philip Steele
Average review score:

Intro to Chinese Culture
This book is great to teach children in short form different aspects of Chinese Culture. The many craft projects are written so a schoolage child could do them with little help from an adult. This is a good teacher present. Any parent like myself with a daughter from China needs it in their library.

Step into the Stone Age (Step into Series)
Published in Hardcover by Lorenz Books (September, 1998)
Authors: Charlotte Evans, Philip Steele, and Charlotte Hurdman
Average review score:

Fascinating Facts from 200 million years ago
Although recommended for 8-12 year olds, I found this book interesting and informative as an adult. Visually, this book is attractive with photographs of actual artifacts and drawings. Examples in today's hunter-gatherer civilizations are provided in addition to the historical and archeological information related to the Stone Age. The timelines included are easily read and informative, as are the maps. Most appealing for parents and schools is the inclusion of 15 step-by-step projects which demonstrate the creation of products used daily from this period in prehistory. An index and glossary are included, and chapter headings deal with a single aspect of life at that time, eg. "Shelter," "The Arts," "Warfare and Weapons," etc.
